To Attract Investment, President Reviews Infrastructure in Kaltara
BULUNGAN, presidentpost.com – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has reviewed the infrastructure in the province of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) to make sure it’s good enough to attract investment. According to the president, infrastructure is very important to attract investment.
Some big investments will come to the new province. “The state-owned enterprise (SOE) Inalum will be moved here with a capacity three times bigger than the capacity in Kuala Tanjung, North Sumatra,” said Jokowi at the Agatish Field, Tanjung Selor, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan, on Friday (10/6).
Jokowi said the government will also encourage investment in the hydro power plant, given the huge potential resources for that in North Kalimantan. “I already asked the governor, vice governor, and Bulungan regent and they said they have prepared 11 thousand hectares of land. That’s what they said when I asked about their preparation,” he said, quoting the official statement from the Palace.
Meanwhile, related to the construction of the bridge connecting Tarakan and Tanjung Selor, the president said he has not decided yet about the timelines. According to him, the government needs to calculate it first.
“Everything must be calculated, calculated, and see the benefits. Currently it’s in the process in the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR). It is being calculated in the PUPR Ministry,” said the President. (RPBK/TPP)
